When I tell people that I work full-time as a professional intuitive (or psychic) the question I usually get asked is ‘How did you get into this work?’

I graduated from Oxford University in 2006 with a degree in Modern Languages and when the same people hear that, they remark that psychic work is an uncommon route to take after a languages degree. And they’d be right – I didn’t grow up wanting to be a psychic. It was not in my conscious life plan.

My Journey into the Spirit World

I have been interested in psychic abilities and the spirit world from a very early age. When I was young, I was at once fascinated and scared of spirits, especially as my first real brush with the Spirit world was an encounter a ghost when I was seven years old! After that, I shut down my clairvoyance (ability to see) out of fear but other channels to the spirit world such as ‘knowing’ and ‘hearing’ things (clairaudience) stayed open.

Later on, in my teens, I got my hands on a pack of tarot cards and brought them to school every day.

I surprised myself and my friends because I could always predict which tarot card I was about to pick from the pack. But it was no trick. I could shuffle the cards over and over and still be able to know which card I was going to pick. I was hooked by the magic of it. Over the next several years, I’d read every book I could get my hands on about the paranormal and psychic abilities.

When I was 18, I left school and I got accepted to read languages at Merton College, Oxford.

Life at Oxford

While I was at University I mostly forgot my interests in the paranormal. Life became all about getting my essay in on time and memorizing as many French and Spanish words as I could fit into my brain. Things were so busy that I didn’t realize that I wasn’t really having much fun. Until I went abroad to Spain in my third year abroad. I spent all my time learning Spanish the fun way – partying! I had a whale of a time. I enjoyed the freedom of my lifestyle – I studied when I wanted, with no exams looming. It was great.

Fast forward one year later, this is me at my graduation. I was so glad it was over, BUT I had worked for three hard years and spent £17,000 on a degree I hadn’t even enjoyed.

Life after University

Now I was faced with finding a job, using skills I didn’t even want to use. I longed for my carefree life in Spain. But I had to face reality. I had bills to pay and some sort of career to make. My job hunt was a frustrating one. It’s hard to find a job when you’re not living your purpose and there is no passion or enthusiasm shining through.

In the end, after some searching, I fell into the field of teaching and taught French at a University in France. But my real enthusiasm, interests and passion still lay elsewhere – in the Spirit world. At weekends I worked on opening up my psychic abilities and contacting my Spirit Guides.

Then, later that year I was offered a job in a language school and moved to the beautiful Catalan Pyrenees area of Spain, where the course of my life would completely change, because of an intuitive reading.

The Reading…

From a link in a paranormal-themed forum, I came across the website of an intuitive named Andrea Hess. I didn’t give my visit to her website a second thought but a few nights later, I had a dream, in which this woman was giving me a reading. The things she said in my dream were unusual but believable. I wasn’t earning a lot of money, so I could barely afford a reading with her, but I felt more and more compelled to book one and did get one in the end.

When I rang her for the session, there was one astonishing feature of the reading:

What she said in the real reading matched exactly what she had said in my dream reading a couple of weeks earlier – and it was not just one aspect, but numerous aspects of the dream

It was to be among the first of many dreams I would later have which showed me my future.

Andrea had brought out her training course a few weeks earlier, which taught others to use their intuition to give readings for others. When I learned about it, I jumped at the chance to do it. A few years earlier a psychic had predicted that I would be doing readings for others, but at the time I dismissed this as impossible. Now here I was, with an opportunity to become a practicing intuitive with a system whose accuracy had been proven to me in the reading that I had had. I was sold.

Training as a Psychic

Andrea’s course – Soul Realignment™ – was a correspondence course with tutoring over the phone. I took every opportunity and every moment I had to study on evenings and weekends.

And at the end of 2007, I gave my first reading. It was very scary but the client resonated with what I said from the very beginning. In early 2008, to my surprise and joy, I was getting more reading requests than I could handle. So, with a mixture of excitement and some fear, I quit my teaching job and moved back to the UK. Over a number of months, I grew a client base of a few hundred clients.

My dream of doing work I enjoyed had fallen into my lap.

Every day when I woke up, I felt so lucky. Soul Realignment had allowed me to turn my interest in the Spirit World and my desire to help others into a full-time career – one that earns me a good living and produces happy clients who send me referrals. And now I’m no longer working in a job that doesn’t fulfil me. I average around five readings a week but really I get to choose my own hours and work as much as I want. And I love that I’m able to contribute something significant to the lives of others.

The best bit is when clients write to me, after their reading and say stuff like this (this is a testimonial from a recent client):

I actually held back my emotions throughout the reading because I didn’t want to interrupt the flow of it…and I could hear the “cracks” in my voice as I listened to the recording. I love being part of that! Reminding another of their soul’s purpose and soul gifts, for me, is an extraordinary experience. And something I just didn’t know how to do this time two years ago – I LEARNED how to do it. And others can learn it too, just like I did, if they have the motivation and interest.

Psychic ability can be learned. The level of psychic ability you reach is entirely up to you and is for the most part dependent on how much you work at it and how motivated you are.
