What Happens in a Reading with me

In this blog post, I walk you through everything that happens in a reading with me, to let new clients know what to expect and to let those of you who are curious as to what goes on in my Akashic Record readings be a fly on the wall.

Booking and scheduling your reading

You book through my website and pay via Paypal. Once you’ve ordered, you get a confirmation email from Paypal and you will also receive a link to a PDF file, which you will need to download. This tells you which information I will need to do your reading (such as your date of birth, place of birth, etc). Once you have sent me the relevant information, I will reply to schedule with you.

At the top of my readings page, it will say how long my waiting list is – it’s usually between seven and ten days long, sometimes longer, sometimes shorter depending on my schedule, but it’ll be on the readings page at the top so you know how long a wait to expect. Once we’ve scheduled, you’re all set for your appointment but I have some work to do before we speak on the phone.

What I do before our appointment

About one hour before our appointment, I sit down in my quiet place (currently my office in New Zealand, if we use webcam for our Skype session, you’ll see it!) and prepare the reading. Some short readings only require 20 minutes of preparation. The longer ones need 50 minutes or longer.

I always begin by looking you up in the Akashic Record.

How I connect to your Akashic Record

I write down your details (your date of birth, etc) on a blank sheet of paper in front of me. I have my laptop on and so I have the picture you sent of yourself in front of me which helps me to connect with you.

I begin by doing some breathing and a meditation to take me to the Akashic Record. I have done this so many times before that it only takes a couple of minutes at most. When I get there, I see the Akashic Record clairvoyantly in my mind. To me, it looks like a library, lots of wood, it’s very quiet and there are stained glass windows and automatic sliding glass doors. I ask my Guides for your Akashic record file. They give it to me.

Then I go up to my special room. This feels like part of the Akashic Record, but it’s a different energetic ‘place’ from where the files are kept. I got assigned a room because it’s a neutral space where I can meet with people’s guides while reading their Akashic Record. It helps to have a neutral space so that I can just leave it behind at the end of the reading.

What I do for every client

Regardless of which reading you booked and how long it is, I do two things for every client (unless they’ve already had a reading).

Firstly, I find out who you are on a soul-level. This is my favourite bit of the reading. I love seeing who people really are on the soul-level. I can pick this up from all the different aspects of what’s in your Akashic Record – such as who you’ve been in the past, what you’ve trained in as a soul, which energies you bring, what you teach us. But I can also put it together for you to paint you a comprehensive picture of who you are – including your drives, your gifts and your challenges.

I am told by the people around me that this is my greatest intuitive gift (whether I’m reading your Akashic record or not) – I see through people – not in a negative way, but when there’s ‘stuff’ in the way, I can see past the ‘stuff’ and the energetic clutter to see the beauty of you. I can see the essence of who you are and I can also see where you’re expressing or repressing this essence of who you are. This is such a wonderful experience to have, (and one that reaffirms my faith in humanity over and over) and so I convey what I see to my client as vividly as possible.

Then when I’m done telling you what’s magnificent about you in particular, I take a look at the clutter, what I like to call “stuff” or blocks in your energy body. These look like pockets of negative energy that sit in your energy body, obscuring your gifts and your power. They are usually centred at one of the chakras, so I will be able to tell you which area of your life they affect.

How deeply we go into this depends on the length of reading you book. Sometimes for new clients there will be some energy leakage at a certain chakra, and I’ll be able to tell you how that affects you in your life in a concrete way. Sometimes there are weak spots and imbalances at certain chakras and all of this is good information for how you’re living your life at the moment and I get information about what you can do to redress the imbalances.

There are many different types of ‘blocks’ that I have come across – some of them are simply beliefs, patterns, ‘programs’. Others are more complicated, especially when it involves another person. The past life karmic entanglements can be quite complex to unravel and find out exactly how they’re showing up in your life now. That’s why I like to do this part of the reading before we speak.

The origins of these ‘blocks’ are always written in your Akashic Record, so I can usually tell when the block originated – down to a year and a month and I often get concrete events associated with the blocks.

Past-life blocks

Often I will get information about your past lives. The information that does come up will usually be related to some sort of negative energy you are still carrying with you. Usually I will get one or more scenarios and people find that the scenarios are exactly what they’re going through now, or very similar in some way. I’ll give you a clear example from a reading I did a while ago – for this guy I got a scenario from a few past lives ago where he belonged to a wealthy family, had great talent as an artist but his parents sent him to law school. He practised law but was unhappy because he knew he was neglecting his talents. At the end of his life he felt that he’d wasted his time on Earth.

When I related this to my client, it turns out that in this lifetime again he was an artist (an illustrator) but he’d trained in some other field because his family thought he couldn’t make any money from his art. He was frustrated and felt he was wasting his life, not doing what he loved. He wanted to change professions but lacked the courage or confirmation to do it.

So, are these real past lives or metaphors?

That’s up to the client to decide. I believe that everything happens at once – past, present and future and it is our minds that put the events into past, present and future so it’s sort of irrelevant whether it’s past or not. Some people do believe the scenarios are just metaphors for what is going on in the client’s life now. The most important thing is that real or not, it’s always relevant.

Once I have gathered all the information for your reading, I call you

It might be that I’m calling your landline phone or I’ll call you on Skype, depending on which you choose for our call.

At this point, because I’ve read your Akashic Record and spoken to your guides, I am very much connected to your energy. When you answer the phone, I’ll probably want to say, hello there beautiful soul (but might avoid this at the risk of sounding like a creep ) People sometimes tell me they’re nervous and/or excited about their reading (with some clients I get butterflies as well.)

We exchange pleasantries and then I begin your reading by relaying all of the information I found out about you in the Akashic Record – who you are on a soul level and your ‘blocks’. This puts a lot of what you’re going through into context and people usually find that it answers many or some of their questions straight off. If you’re a previous client and you’ve already heard this part, we just go straight into your questions.

Then once I’ve delivered that information, which can take anything between 10 and 60 minutes depending on which reading you book, I take a minute or two to tune into your spirit guides and Higher Self, then I spend some time passing on additional guidance and answering any remaining questions you have about other life areas as time allows.

Clearing work

We don’t just talk about ‘blocks’ and negative energy and leave it at that. Any blocks that I tell you about, we will do ‘clearing’ work around during the session.

What is clearing and how does it happen?

I’ll give you an example. Let’s say I find out that when you were younger, due to a bad experience, you decided that romantic relationships weren’t for you. In your Akashic Record, this rather dramatically comes up as a vow of celibacy that you made at the age of 21. In your energy field, there is a frequency of celibacy that you emit to the world, and in return you get celibacy. So lately you may have decided that actually you want a new romantic relationship, but you know there’s a self-sabotaging part of you that doesn’t want a relationship, but you don’t know why. You suspect it may have something to do with the time your boyfriend dumped you at age 21 but you don’t know why that’s still affecting you.

When I tell you about this vow of celibacy that you made at age 21, the realization moves a lot of energy – you understand where it comes from and you understand that the vow of celibacy was like a promise you made to yourself, or God, or whomever, that you would not have relationships in the future. And because it was an unconscious promise you put a lot of energy behind, you felt bound to it.

So then I ask your guides, angels, and higher self to help you in releasing it. It doesn’t matter whether you believe in angels or not. The frequency of celibacy moves out of your energy field. After your session I send you a 21 day homework document. Doing this reprograms your subconscious to help you integrate a different way of being into your life. As part of the session, we also talk about what you want to change, in a concrete, 3D way as a result of clearing out that frequency of celibacy and you set some new intentions for your life and we come up with actions and next steps for you that align with those new intentions.

So, that’s what the clearing is – it’s not me waving a magic wand or healing you – it’s you realizing why you have manifested something unwanted, why it’s been so persistent, clearing it out and setting a new intention (and putting a lot of new energy behind it.)

It is Magic, though. People create change where they couldn’t before using this clearing, if they really want it.

Sometimes there is no clearing to be done, especially if you’re a previous client, and in that case we just launch straight into your questions.

After the reading

Then after we hang up, I send you your homework document and a recording if we used Skype. I shut down the connection to your Guides and Akashic Record once that’s all sent off.

Once I’ve shut down the connection to your Akashic record and Guides, I cannot usually open that back up without energy and time spent retrieving more information, so please make sure we get all your important questions answered during the reading, as I won’t be able to tune back in afterwards.

Should you get another reading?

Clients sometimes ask me when they should book their next reading. I have a number of repeat clients have a reading every 3-6 months to help them get clarity, create change and move towards their goals in a particular life area. Some people don’t have more than one reading. Others have another a few weeks after their first one. So just follow your gut feeling – you’ll probably know when you can benefit from a reading or clearing because you’ll feel really drawn to getting one.
